Works in the SETI series are machines that create abstract video displays. Each of the pieces is an electromechanical sculpture that creates a continuously changing abstract video display. Like Thomas Wilfred’s light organs, the sculptures exist at the juncture between the physical and the ephemeral, using technical means to produce shifting abstract phenomena of light and form. The images produced by the machines are loosely inspired by the images of deep space produced by the Hubble Space Telescope. On this page you will find documentation of completed works in the series, drawings for works in progress, and documentation of related projects.
